    Helicteres isora Linn.. A large shrub with young parts stellately-hairy, bark grey, leaves 7.5-15.0 cm, alternate in two opposite rows on the branchlets, round-ovate, short-pointed, rough above, velvety beneath, stipules 6 mm, subulate or linear, deciduous, flowers 2.5-5 cm long, solitary or 2-4 together in a cluster on short stalks, axillary; calyx tubular, almost two lipped, crown woolly, petals 5, scarlet, 2.5 cm long, turn black, staminal tube 5-toothed at the apex; styles 5; fruit 5 cm long, consisting of five spirally twisted woolly follicles on a stalk (gynophore), seeds numerous
